The Route
Day 1 – Edinburgh to Beauly
Via the Cairngorms National Park
Start: Edinburgh
Finish: Beauly
Distance: Approx. 190 miles
Departure: 9:00am
Check-in & Bike Collection
Collect your motorcycle from the Bikerbnb Adventures garage in Edinburgh from 9:00am, meet the team, and get set up before heading north.
Day 1
You’ll leave Edinburgh behind and head north, crossing the Forth Road Bridge into the Kingdom of Fife, continuing north towards Pitlochry, your first Highland pitstop. Next, you’ll begin your climb into the spectacular Cairngorms National Park.
The route takes you along the famous Snow Roads, offering fast, flowing tarmac, wide open landscapes, and some of the most scenic riding in the country.
You’ll stop for lunch in the beautiful and iconic village of Braemar, before continuing north into Speyside whisky country, riding through Grantown-on-Spey and towards Inverness along Major Caulfeild’s military road across the Dava Moor.
Before reaching your final destination, you’ll pass the historic Culloden Battlefield, a powerful and atmospheric stop just outside Inverness.
From here, it’s a short and relaxed final leg to the quiet Highland village of Beauly.
Lunch Stop
The Fifearms Hotel – Braemar
A highlight of the day is stopping for lunch at the Flying Stag in Braemar, part of the Fife Arms estate. It’s the perfect Highland pit stop — great food, welcoming surroundings, and a chance to swap stories from the morning’s ride before heading back out into the Cairngorms.
Accommodation
The Priory Hotel – Beauly
A charming and comfortable Highland stay, perfectly located for a relaxed evening after a big riding day.
Beauly is small and quaint, but has everything you’ll need for a short stay, including a good selection of restaurants, cafes and a petrol station.
Day 2
Depart Beauly and head south towards the shores of Loch Ness, stopping near the iconic Urquhart Castle for classic Highland views.
You’ll follow the quieter north side of Loch Ness down to Fort Augustus, where you can enjoy a relaxed coffee stop by the water, with plenty of cafés and local gift shops to explore.
From here, the route follows the dramatic line of the Great Glen to Fort William, surrounded by towering mountains and deep glens.
Lunch Stop
The Clachaig Inn – Glencoe
A Bikerbnb team favourite.
A legendary hill-walker’s retreat set in the heart of the Glencoe mountain range — and famously close to Hagrid’s Hut from Harry Potter.
Expect hearty food, a great atmosphere, and unforgettable surroundings.
Afternoon Ride
After lunch, continue south through the breathtaking Glencoe Mountains, riding into Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
You’ll stop in Callander for a final coffee before beginning the last leg back towards Edinburgh, riding via Stirling and into the capital by late afternoon.
