What makes motorcycle-friendly accommodation?
We're passionate about biking, that much is clear, but we want our hosts to not only share our passion but more importantly, be passionate about sharing their home.
Over the past few years, the sharing economy has grown into a global phenomenon and home sharing as a concept has become one of the most popular choices of accommodation types for travelers.
From Airbnb and couch surfing to carpooling and share taxi, more and more people are choosing to share. We want our hosts to share their homes with bikers, and we want our bikers to share their passion for riding and in turn, create a community dedicated to exploring the open road by motorcycle.
There are a number of requirements a property must meet to become a bikerbnb host. Not because we are picky, but because we value what is extremely important for traveling bikers on their journey.
Off street parking -
Bike security is a key factor for riders when choosing accommodation. Not only are motorcycles expensive but for most bikers, it's a part of their livelihood therefore one of their most prized possessions. The best security for a bike is indoors in a secure garage or parking area. Being able to park a motorcycle off the main road out of sight is very important because well, it's hard to steal a bike that you can't see!
Drying and cleaning facilities-
Wind, rain or shine, whatever the weather conditions, a bike ride becomes a messy affair. Bikers need somewhere they can dry off, clean themselves and road gime off of their gear.
A good area for riding-
Aside from the accommodation part, one of the key aspects of a bikerbnb accommodation, is its location for riders to explore. We want our hosts to know their local area and be able to
recommend a scenic route for our bikers or at least be able to point them in the direction to complete their journey.

Top 5 Best Motorcycle Routes in Scotland

Beautiful scenery combined with long stretches of roads undoubtedly makes Scotland one of the best locations for motorcyclists. With thousands of miles of roads to discover throughout the country, bikers have a variety of picturesque yet quiet motorcycle routes in Scotland to choose from.
Physical attributes aside, Scotland is also home to friendly people, a rich history and of course, our famous whisky! Riders can embrace the Scottish culture along the way, exploring each corner of the country from small traditional towns to the silent nature of the countryside.
Of course, there are the most popular routes well known to all, but we want riders to experience the most epic journey they can. To kick off the first in a series of informative blog posts, we delve a little deeper into the top 5 best motorcycle routes in Scotland:
1. North Coast 500
Well, it would be rude to not start with this one. Scotland's answer to the well-known 'Route 66', the North Coast 500 covers just over 500 miles of scenery across the north of the country. Breathtaking views and beautiful winding roads make up Scotland's most famous coastal route. The NC500 begins in Inverness in the north of the country and from there riders will venture through some of Scotland's finest spots including the Black Isles and Caithness.
2. North East 250
The North East 250 encapsulates all Scotland has to offer riders striking the perfect balance between countryside greenery and city feels. The best places to start this route are Ballindalloch, Aberdeen International Airport, and through Glenshee.
3. Moray Coast 100
Take a ride along the Moray Coast, 100 miles from Inverness to Fraserburgh. One of the shorter routes, this is perfect for riders wishing to explore the North East of Scotland.
4. The Snow Road
The Snow Roads Scenic Route is a 90-mile journey which takes you from the picturesque market town of Blairgowrie to the traditional Highland town of Grantown-on-Spey. Snow roads are slow roads so this really is the perfect route if you are looking for a leisurely journey whilst taking in the scenery through the Cairngorms National park.
5. South West 300
The beauty of this route is its circle shape so riders can start their journey wherever they choose. Covering a distance of just over 300 miles, this diverse route follows many miles of coastline as well as hills and lochs.
